Keith Lionel Urbahn AO is an Australian country singer, guitarist, and lyricist. In 1991, he released his self-titled debut album, which featured four Australian-penned songs before making its way to the United States the following year. His first gig was with the band The Ranch, and they produced one studio album on Capitol Nashville and two singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

The debut for Urband turned out to be a great success for him. Urban’s second eponymous album, released in 1999 while still signed to Capitol, served as his American solo debut. For his first number-one country song on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with “But for the Grace of God,” he received RIAA platinum certification.

Albums and recognition

The first single off his second Capitol album Golden Road (2002), “Somebody Like You,” was named the biggest country hit of the 2000s decade by Billboard.

With “You’ll Think of Me,” the album’s fourth track, he won his first Grammy Award, which he shared with his nephew, country singer Rory Gilliatte.

Be Here, his third studio album for Columbia Records in the United States, went 4 Platinum, making it his best-selling record to date.

In 2006, he launched Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, which included “Once in a Lifetime” and his second Grammy Award-winning song, “Stupid Boy.”

At the end of 2007, a best hits collection named Greatest Hits: 18 Kids was released. On the 31st of March 2009, Defying Gravity was released after which, Get Closer was out on the 16th of November.

Throughout his career, Keith Urbahn explored a range of sounds, including subtle nods to electronic music influences in his later work, adding fresh elements to his signature country style. He went on to write and record numerous other songs, many of which won awards.

Aside from being a coach on the Australian version of The Voice 2021, Urbahn is also well-known for his appearances as a judge on American Idol. Urban debuted his signature guitar and accessory line in October of 2013.

For his Tampa, Florida, show in October 2013, Urban announced that through the Home Shopping Network (HSN), he would be selling “signature” guitars and accessories. As a result, HSN sold 42,000 guitar sets in six months by promoting them twice.

According to a recent tweet from Urbahn, it can be seen that he has partnered with Yamaha Music USA to sell The URBAN guitar, with a part of sales proceeds going to Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and the Grammy Foundation.

It was also revealed that he had consistently supported others in raising money for flood assistance.
